Nó da corda

Within the group, we must always obey the traditions, or the “rules of the house” as were practiced by Mestre Bimba. For those who are new to the group it is important to recognise that Porto da Barra follows a tradition for securing the corda.

There are certainly many ways to tie the corda. However, maintaining a tradition of Porto da Barra, a unique type of technique is applied. See the following pictures:

In the case of a cord with two colors, remember that the lowest graduation color rests under the cord that is of a higher graduation. In the example above, the orange is under the dark blue cord since it is the Formando cord.

Also, the noose should be placed beside the symbol of our group which is found on the left side of our pants.
